Cline Diving Industry Survey Results
Third Quarter 2006 Dive Business Survey
Cline's Quarterly Dive Industry Survey is in, a total of 174 dive business responded to the survey, and indicated the following results:
- All dive businesses saw, on average, a 9.1% increase in their gross revenues for the 3rd Quarter of 2006 versus the same period in 2005.
- Retailers specifically saw a 10.6% increase gross revenues for this same period.
- New certifications were up 7.1% specifically for Retailers and Independent Instructors (combined, actual was 2.8% increase for retailers, and 8.7% increase for independent instructors)
- Dive Travel Sales were up 7.1% specifically for Retailers
- Dive Equipment sales were up 9.4% specifically for Retailers
- 92% of the retailer respondents were from the USA
- 72% of the retailer respondents were the facility owner or manager.

> On the whole, 54% of all the businesses responded that they expect the diving industry to continue to 'slowly improve' for the 1st quarter of 2007. > 67% of the equipment manufacturers that responded, and 57% of the 'other industry professionals' reported that their 4th quarter gross sales are to be 'more than' the previous 4th quarter of 2005. > Further good news, dive equipment manufacturers
reported their 3rd quarter gross sales were up 16.4% and 'other industry professionals' reported an increase of 7.1% in gross sales for the same period, as compared to the 3rd quarter of 2005.
